Itinerary

Departure: 8:30 am · Return: 2:30 pm · Total duration: about 5 to 6 hours · Pick-up: hotels in the historic centre of Cusco.

  1. Day 1 Half a day to discover Inca wisdom

Hotel or meeting-point pick-up (7:45 - 8:10 am): our team collects you directly from your hotel if it is in the historic centre of Cusco. Otherwise we agree a convenient nearby meeting point.

Moray archaeological site: an ancient Inca agricultural laboratory, famous for its circular terraces built into natural depressions. These terraces simulated different microclimates, showing the sophisticated agricultural know-how of the Incas. The view from above is striking, and your guide explains the complexity and purpose of the site.

Colonial village of Maras: a short stop in this village known for its carved stone colonial doorways bearing family coats of arms. Peaceful today, Maras nevertheless played a key role in the colonial period.

Maras salt mines (Salineras): the highlight of the trip. A magnificent patchwork of more than 3,000 pools fed by a mineral-rich natural spring, worked by local families using traditional techniques since pre-Inca times. You can buy natural, gourmet or herb-flavoured salts directly from the producers.

Return to Cusco (between 2:00 and 2:30 pm) to your hotel or a central meeting point, depending on traffic.
